For families
Explore your child's town together
In class, your child learns social studies by playing through a 3D version of your town and finding true stories where they happened. At home, you can explore the same town together.

In class
What your child is learning
A friendly guide leads your child through the town, one place at a time. Each chapter is about 15 minutes and teaches social studies standards.
Which town is your child's class in?
Screen time
How much time is it?
A chapter takes about 15 minutes, in class, with the teacher leading. Then the class talks about what they found. At home, exploring is just for fun and nothing is saved.

Things to ask your child
Your child may ask you what life here was like long ago, or where your family came from. That's part of what they're learning. Tell them a story!
At home
Explore the town together
Open Map Scouts on a computer, tablet or phone and explore the town with your child. Ask them to show you their favorite place. Exploring at home is just for fun: nothing is saved or sent anywhere. Class chapters need a computer, like the ones at school.
Visit it for real
Go see it this weekend
Every place in a chapter is a real place you can stand in front of. Start with these.
Privacy, in plain words
What we keep, and what we don't
First name only
The teacher types each child's first name, and a last initial only when two share a name. No last names, birthdays, email addresses or photos.
No accounts, no passwords
Kids join by tapping their class animal and their name. There is nothing to sign up for.
No ads, nothing sold
No ads and no trackers. What your child does in class is seen by their teacher and Map Scouts, and never sold or shared.
Your say
You can ask for your child's data to be deleted at any time, through their teacher or by writing to us.
Is your child's teacher using Map Scouts?
If not, pass it along. A teacher can set up a class in a few minutes, and it's free to try.
Want Map Scouts for your town?
We're adding towns one at a time, starting where teachers ask. Tell us yours, and we'll email you when it's explorable.
